استخدام هرمون الاستروجين هو بطلان في المرضى الذين يعانون من تشخيص, نزيف مهبلي غير طبيعي. لفترات طويلة (> 1 سنة) ، بالتزكية استخدام هرمون الاستروجين (مثل هرمون الاستروجين دون أن يصاحب ذلك البروجستين العلاج) ارتبط مع كبير, جرعة ذات الصلة خطر الإصابة بسرطان بطانة الرحم. قد يكون خطر الإزاحة إلى حد كبير من خلال إضافة البروجستين ولكن لا يجوز أن تلغى تماما. قبل الشروع في العلاج بالاستروجين, الاختبارات التشخيصية الملائمة يجب أن يؤديها في المرضى الذين يعانون من نزيف مهبلي غير طبيعي لاستبعاد بطانة الرحم الخبيث. وينطبق الشيء نفسه إذا المتكررة أو المستمرة نزيف يتطور خلال العلاج بالاستروجين.
